do you listen to music when you work?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

It depends: when the work is physical, I do listen to music. But when the work is intelectual such as reading or etc, I prefer the silence.

I always have some sort of music on. While at work I have classical, jazz, Irish folk art, Disney soundtracks and solitudes playing. I find because I work with children in a daycare that the above music seems to have a positive affect on the children. I am also a big country music fan so while at home a lot of the time I will have a country music playing.

I work in retail and I don’t think it be a good use of my time if I were to listen to music while I work . I actually like to focus on one thing at a time

When you see CD and you just die inside!!!!!(>.<)! Anyways, I have moment when I do listen to music using Spotify or YouTube. It gets me going, especially when I'm procrastinating.

I do like the idea of listening to music while working, but it has to be very solemn music, any other and it becomes distracting. music can be both an advantage and a disadvantage while working.

Sort of, I prefer to listen to instrumental because the lyrics distract me.

No. I don't listen to earphone in a social environment where there are people. In my view it's an antisocial trait which is not associated with my persona. Unless it's on a loud speaker or similar device...

Not necessarily music... I often have my tv on as background noise. Somehow, the constant chatter on there typically allows my focus to narrow in on what I'm working on, instead of distracting me.
