do you listen to music when you work?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

For me it depends on what type of work I am doing. I like to listen to music if I am doing mindless work like filing or looking things up on the computer. Lately I have been listening to upbeat hits. However, if I am writing or reading something, I need music without words because I find the words distracting.

I do sometimes because it makes working easier but other times, it's distracting.

For me music is great for relieving some stress that can come with working sometimes or it can be the stress. As long as it’s something soothing and quiet it’s a winner.

I also require silence to work. Cooking is one of my passions and music makes its more enjoyable.

I find it difficult to concentrate while listening to music when I'm working. I mostly listen to music while relaxing or doing house chores.

I always listen to music while working, but now I can't do it, because the speakers are broken. I work from home, I can afford to listen to music at any volume. Now I'm trying to quickly find a suitable speaker system to buy, but a cool thing that is useful even for parties. I'm looking at the review here https://homemakerguide.com/best-wireles ... und-sound/, the options are interesting, but I think there is something else to look at? We often get together as a family, we love to go to karaoke. What is there to buy such a speaker system to have your own karaoke at home?

I don't listen to music when I work, because I am a distraction to myself. I get to into the song and jam out forgetting the assignment in front of me. I 've opted to working in silence or humming some tune. :)

I listen to music all the time but especially when I am working. It helps the flow of thought and inspiration when I am theorizing. If I am doing something monotonous, it helps break the monotony and, let's be honest here, boredom. If I am unable to listen to music in my current situation, I often hum to myself. I don't know about anyone else, but music helps make everything around me more interesting and I am less likely to zone out.

Yes I do! It helps me keep the mood through the work
Harmony in chaos. It's all a matter of perspective.

Though I use earphones or turn the volume down to make sure I don't disturb other people.
