Does music reflect life or life reflect music?

This is the place for readers of poetry. Discuss poetry and literary art. You can also discuss music here, including lyrics. Also, you can discuss poets themselves, in addition to poetry.

Music historically reflects current events. It's a really unique way to study the past.

I think music reflects life as well. People who say the act out because of music are just trying to place blame on other people. I think life inspired music, but music does not dictate people and how they act.

Music is life and life is a form of music. They both complement one another.

I think that music reflects life (inevitably - as we are all a collection of our experiences), but can it go the other way?
Life that reflects music.... I think it's possible. Especially maybe with individuals who are really strongly connected with music.

I think that music reflects life. Life experiences are the motivation for the lyrics and accompanying sound. Music is like food for the soul. It can inspire you and lift your spirits. It can motivate you to pursue what is inside you because it resonates with your spirit, whether good or bad.

Music reflects life because we can relate to our life circumstances through music.

I think music reflects life through lyrics, because as one listens to lyrics that they relate to, they're being taken back to those moments.
