A poem I wrote after talking to my Grandma about life, etc.

Post by Teesie »

Twinkle, Twinkle, little lights,
Outside this bleak window tonight,
But it ain't no stars that I see.

They're just sreet lights and such,
Don't really mean that much,
Feels like they're mocking me.

Seems like every time I think,
Things ain't no more gonna sink,
They start fallin' yet again.

Sometimes makes me feel so lost,
I just cain't pay the cost,
Don't know where to begin.

It's just the circle of life,
Shouldn't be so much strife,
But here it comes.

Here come the melancholy words,
Cain't seem to sing with the birds,
I add it up but cain't find the sums.

As if there's no hope,
They cain't seem to cope,
And it drives me mad.

They're opinion of life and what's after,
The end of this chapter,
Just makes me sad.

I'm lost and confused,
Don't know what to say or do,
So I just sit and cry,
Till my eyes just run dry.

It is sad. I'm a Christian and I wrote this after having sit and listen to my Grandma talk crap about the Bible for two and half hours not being able to say anything. She kept saying over and over how she thinks that all Christains are stupid. Every time I would try to explain to her why I believe the way I believe she would interupt me and go on about how "Your Mama has you brainwashed into beleiving a bunch of ignorant nonsense" those were exact words. It was hearbreaking. And it was even worse cause she did this just after we found out that Grandpa has terminal cancer and may not live longer than a couple more months.

Like your other one, took me in and made a purpose.

I believe in the Bible, too, Teesie. My life has revolved around its every word. Without it, I know I'd know no light or reason. My relationship with its inspirer, who I like to call by the one emotional essence that makes up who he is, has literally been a life saver for me. In his first letter, the apostle, John, writes, in the eighth stanza of the fourth chapter, "God is love." I have definitely come to know what that means, and one of my favorite scriptures is this one at James 4:8: "Draw close to God and he will draw close to you." I'm very happy to have such a father and friend. I'm glad his love is a gift, because, if it weren't, I'd never be able to repay him for it.

I enjoyed your poem. I've been told rhyming is outdated. Yeah, college professors are pains. I'm a sucker for it, and I rhyme almost every one of my poems. I don't know... It just seems more like I'm making music when I rhyme, and poetry is its own kind of music, isn't it? Very nice. I look forward to any more poetry you have to post.
Those who dream by day are cognizant of many things that escape those who only dream at night.

I am not a Christian but more I feel the loss and confusion that come with aging. You reach a point in your mortality where nothing does seem to make sense anymore, but somehow you plod on despite it...very good poem
