I enjoyed the article and I definitely agree with joining a writer's critique group. Constructive criticism with the knowledge of other writer's and their different styles of writing can improve your writing skills dramatically.

Well done, karolinka. All five tips are gold. Thanks for sharing. :tiphat:
Heart! We will forget him!
You an I, tonight!
You may forget the warmth he gave,
I will forget the light.

When you have done, pray tell me
That I my thoughts may dim;
Haste! lest while you're lagging.
I may remember him!

Very well put advice. Don't know about putting the book on social media but everything else is good advice. I especially liked reading other writers to find styles. That marks the difference between who wants to become a writer or a great book reader.

You have summed up all the important tips so well. It is only recently that I have started participating in contests. And that definitely is a humbling experience. Constructive criticism is extremely important to know where you stand.

Thank you for a very informative article about writing. I am a non-native English speaker so I find it hard to write well sometimes because of the fear of having plenty of errors. But these tips are really worth trying!

What contests do you participate in? I really want to do the same, but it’s so hard to find ones that are open to international submissions.?

Tamorie21 wrote: 06 May 2018, 18:28 There are a couple of things in this article that I've never even considered! I was aware of being active on social media, but never thought about posting excerpts to my work to receive feedback from friends and family, especially not while I'm in the process of writing it! I think that is a very good idea. I thought about freelancing many times, but I find that I'm always struggling with time, as I am a full time Creative Writing student and work part time. At least I get writing experience in (around my other Major courses :roll: ) and some feedback. Thanks for the great advice!
The most constructive part of my writing process is giving my partner chapters to read as I finish them. She nags me to write more because she wants to know what’s going to happen and she gives me feedback as well.

Thanks for the nice guidance, through these tips, to the budding writers. I strongly believe that reading is a precursors to writing. More we read more ideas we get.

I'm curious, from your suggestions, if there are particular writing conferences or courses that you (or anyone here on this site) have found to be particularly valuable?
