Stepping Up the Ladder

In the book, one of Jorge's earliest accomplishments is saving money from his deliveries to purchase an ice cream bike and getting it fixed up. It's something that, without focus and ingenuity, never would have come, and took a lot of work to keep going as well. What's something you've worked hard toward and made happen?

I'm still in the present tense on this: I work hard on raising my two kids and trying to be as close to the role model they deserve as I can. :)

Great question!

Congrats! I'm actually in the same boat right now, and should be applying near the end of the year. I understand how much work and effort goes into this goal and I know it's probably going to be one of the most difficult things I face in life.

I can't even think of one thing that I worked on for a long time with satisfying results. I did handwrite a novel when I was in junior high, but going back and rereading it is way too embarrassing! :oops2:

I will say that the amount of debt I'm in from school is my biggest worry right now, especially since I only have one semester left. I feel like the day I make my last payment on those loans is going to be my "stepping up the ladder" moment! Especially since that day is far, far in the future haha

One thing that I have worked hard and made happen was getting a college degree. I am the first in my family to do so, and I had to go through the entire process on my own, which at first was scary. However, I made it through and I feel proud that I did :D

After years of working hard for my career and family, I am quite contented with what I have accomplished.

To me stepping up the ladder is to work on self-actualization needs such as self-fulfillment, seeking personal growth, looking at life objectively, appreciating life experiences, spending time with loved ones. :romance-heartbeating:

I suppose its all about patience, and to keep on striving, one step at a time. Or in the case of a ladder, one rung at a time.

I have tried hard in education and recreation. Perhaps my attaining Grade 6 in Piano was a sign I could stick with something which was not crucial, and could be lonely to practice.

Graduating college and most recently getting a house is something I've worked extremely hard for and spent years either studying or saving and they both are finally paying off.

One thing that comes to mind is when I was about 15 or 16. I wanted a laptop so bad but my family couldn't afford one. So I saved me money from different jobs and bought my own. They were so much more expensive for a basic one back in those days. I was so proud of the fact that I had bought my own laptop. Although my dad was more proud of the fact than I was! :)

I definitely have to go with my grades. I don't know if its the perfectionist or the OCD in me, but whatever it is had made me work hard to accomplish near perfection.
