Boris and Marda

Two of my favorite characters are Boris and Marda. I loved their interactions and how Marda kept Boris in line. Do you think Boris would have killed Cody if he was given the chance? Would he have let Suzanne stay in their cabin if Cody never came back?

I liked Marda, but not her husband. I do think he would have killed Cody if he was given the chance. I don't think he would he have let Suzanne stay in their cabin, since he thought she was immoral woman and wanted her gone.

I think that Boris would have without a doubt have shot Cody dead and then probably turned Suzanne out into the snow and cold to fend for herself, essentially killing her as well by doing so. He was not portrayed as a nice man at all.

Boris was a mean man. I definitely believe he would have shot Cody and thrown Suzanne out of his home. However, Marta tried to keep him in line and probably would have done all she could to help.

I think Boris was potrayed as a super bad person and would have shot both Cody and Suzzane when he first saw them..on the other hand..Marda was super sweet and caring

I thought that his bark was worse than his bite and that he was just an easy to anger old man. There was something to what Marda said about Boris being jealous of Cody.

I didn't think Boris really worked as a character. When he interacted with Marda, he seemed like a gruff but gentle old man, but when he interacted with Cody and Suzanne, he seemed like he might very well kill them directly or indirectly (i.e., throwing them out into the winter). It was a contradiction that made the character less than believable for me. Someone callous enough to kill someone in need isn't likely to treat his wife with so much deference.

I do think Boris would have killed Cody if he was given the chance. He shot at him, for goodness sakes! If Marda hadn't been there, he would have surely done it. I really liked Marda and her attitude. I thought it was great that she actually stood up to her husband when he was being a butthead to other people.

I agree with this. I do think he might have shot Cody, but it would have probably been in the arm of something and not killed him. I think Marda would have convinced him to let Suzanne stay if she never told them the truth.

I loved them and they were definitely two of my favorites. I think that even though Boris is a bit of a jerk that it was also normal for that time to feel like that and in his own way he was just concerned for Suzanne. I think that he would have let her stay and in his own way actually loved her and would have loved the baby too. Marda was a God send for Suzanne and such a loving women. I actually cried when they were saying their goodbyes.
