"Figments of Persuasion: Field Guild" by Nancy L. Vallete is an intriguing book that offers a comprehensive and captivating guide into the world of "Figments," which are, in essence, mythological creatures that embody strong human emotion and shared experiences.

The book begins with an introduction to these creatures as the author explains how one must rely on imagination and emotions to observe them rather than logic or science. We get to understand their classification and their origin before the book delves into the many kinds of Figments as well as the human emotions and experiences they each affect.

I liked the author's writing style. For a book that offered so much depth on this subject matter, it could have easily turned into a weird fantasy book, but the author did an amazing job of keeping the book light and very engaging. She does an excellent job of tapping into human experiences. This is evident from the book's beginning when she highlights the difference between those who do not believe and those who do. The book explores many emotions, experiences, and the Figments responsible for them. Sentimentals, Peeves, and Bewilders certainly resonated with me. The illustration by Don Stephenson elevated the book and conveyed the message of the words in the book. Perhaps the best thing about this book is its celebration of the importance of emotions and imagination. It is good to hold on to a bit of our childlike wonder. I did not notice any negative issues with the book.

This book was professionally edited; I found only a few errors in it. This is the type of book I would easily read again. Considering all the good sides of this book, I have to rate it 5 out of 5 stars. I would recommend this book to children and to those of us who are children at heart.
