Whilst this may be a heavy dystopian story, the friendship described first between the animals and then with Jim is lovely and caring. A perfect contrast to the world.

Where "The wolf also shall dwell with the lamb", there's no problem between the cat and the dog, which are long time legendary enemies. Thanks for the good review.

'Of the Earth' sounds like a charming story with a little adventure. And who can resist talking animals? Thanks for that fine review, VernaVi.

This sounds like an interesting adventure story with dystopian themes. But as you mentioned, there were heavy themes so I might give it a pass for now. Thanks for the review!

I was intrigued that the author mentioned finding Easter when looking for the Easter eggs, and the opening captured my attention. I may have to check out this book further. Thank you for your excellent review, VernaVi, and congrats on BOTD.

This seems to be an amazing adventure book. A dystopian fantasy that even includes talking animals and trying to survive even when it seems like one is alone. I hope they will be able to survive whatever comes their way.

Interesting. I like the concept of human and talking animal on an adventure. The fusion of dystopian and fantasy appears to be engaging to me. But I don't like the heavy topics like the religious war and natural disaster. Thank you for an honest and thoughtful review.

I like reading books where animals are also the main characters so I’m looking forward into this one to be with Jim and the puppy and her friend Carl he met along his search for his missing friends in Smokey Mountain. It is very interesting to know what other characters they will meet in their journey.

"Of the Earth" by Kim Cousins seems intriguing. A cat and a puppy becoming friends is proverbially uncommon. This is a creative work by the author. Congrats on BOTD. Great review.

Adventure story involving a puppy, trying to survive and cats. Adventure book. Talking animal fantasy. Heavier undertone themes of religion, the art of warfare and sci-fi.
Congratulations on being BOTD

I'm a little confused as to how the cat, Carl, and Jim relate to each other. It does sound like an exciting read but I'm not interested in the Holy Bible or religious texts in a story so I don't think that this is for me. But this was a great review and I hope others enjoy this!

Friendship is the highlight of this book and just like I mentioned in yesterday's book of the day, Friendship is important. No one is an Island and no one should live that way. We should always be open minded to meet people and bond.

'Official Review: Of the Earth' by Kim Cousins has an interesting introduction. The writing style in the review is worth the admiration of readers. Also, the point that the elements of adventure, common goodness, friendship, and romance are interwoven in the story is worth mentioning in the review. The theme of concern for others appearing throughout the story was appealing to me. Also, as mentioned in the review, the point that the story uses the 'Holy Bible' as a source of inspiration, and the scriptural footnotes are included for readers to investigate on their own is remarkable for readers. Nice to learn that the camaraderie between the animal characters in this story was lovable!
