The Wall by Some Guy a thriller giving a sense of awe and anticipation right from the start. We don't get any insight about the author, but I do hope to see more of his creative mind.This is a graphic fantasy novel with many counts profanity and inappropriate language. The Wall would be most suited for young adults and mature audiences.

Despite my doubts in reading a book by Some Guy(the author's pseudonym) straight from the prologue I'm engaged. Immediately, I am drawn into the story and can visualize the scenes and reactions of the characters. He does an excellent job with the dialogue between the five guys make you feels as if it were a real conversation. He also gives each character their own quirks humanizing them that much more. The author has an exceptional writing style making this book an easy read. I love a good page turner and this book definitely fits the build.

The protagonist Forge leads his military team through war riddled Pakistan where they encounter a whole new kind of war to fight. Known as "The Wrecking Crew" this tight knit, crude talking group of soldiers who is initially introduced facing off against zombies and demons.

The political aspect is introduced as they return home and ultimately become the go-to security team for a cold hearted US President. Where it seems life has calmed down as we fast forward ten years. At the unveiling of the wall along the Mexican /US border the ceremony does not go as planned. From here a snowball effect begins as the story starts to reveal more conspiracy. We are left with the "Wrecking Crew" to tie up loose ends. Revisiting the events they long left in the Pakistani cave and working towards a resolution.


In my mind there is no doubt that this book is a 4 out of 4 stars. I could not put this book down once I got started. The author executed every aspect perfectly. There are no shortages of surprises and anticipation. I was truly captivated through the entirety of this story. There is never a dull moment and keeps my mind wondering 'what next'. I even connected emotionally with Forge as he begins to reflect on his life choices and ultimately seeks redemption. What I enjoyed most was that the use of the creatures didn't seem corny and out of place. Every aspect of the story fit together seamlessly.
