Review by jeminah28 -- Child of the Sun Complete Edition
A couple was blessed with a boy, they were from the tribe of Dan. During conception, the mother must not eat detestable foods according to the Israelite law, nor wine or anything from a grapevine. This boy is very especial, he will possess such power, however, will lose it, if his hair will be cut.
Fast forward, a young man was in love to a woman in Timnath and wanted to marry her. On his way to his marriage proposal, his strength was tested by a ferocious beast. Later, he became a poetic man after his encounter with a beast, which creates chaos to the bride's family. Betrayal. Rage. Havoc. War.
Attention! Author's warning: this book is intended for mature readers only! The book contains explicit scenes of war, nudity and killings, which are not advisable for minors. If you are fond of Israel's history, this story will help you understand why the gore scenes happened. The book is also suitable for someone who is digging about Israel's culture or Abraham's race, however, if you are a believer of Jesus Christ, please broaden your mind because the book may sound offensive to the Christian believers.
Child of the Sun Complete Edition is a comic book, by Michael Van Cleve. The depiction of the story is very realistic based on the historical facts. I appreciate the author's creativity in depicting Israel's history. Since I read and doing a lot of research on Jewish culture and heritage, I understand the plot. The book contains some events taken in the Deuterocanonical books for historical facts only. Plus, there are twists and turns between Philistinian's belief and Greek mythology in the story to make this book more likable to the fans of this genre.
I will rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. The story was drawn carefully enough to entertain the readers without making the book looks like a science-fiction. I agree how terrible the events during those times as the "Book of Judges" was being told. I understand why the book contains numerous explicit scenes.
There are only a few words written and they are written well. Sad to say, I struggled on reading the narration; the fonts were very small, which was not suitable for a smaller screen and the combination of colors seems too bright. Fortunately, the drawings did pique my interest in flicking through the pages. There are no profane words, but the pictures being portrayed will tell.
