Review by Susmita Biswas -- Child of the Sun Complete Ed...
Child of the Sun by Michael Van Cleve is a graphic novel. It's prink with some legends and stories from the Bible. Samson, Lilith, and the ancient three are some examples of this. The author is a part-time writer in Alabama. He gave importance to the first part of Samson's life, and he shared some unknown information about Samson.
We get the reference of Samson in the "Book of Judges" from the Hebrew Bible. Samson and Delilah are very popular legends of the Bible. But a few people know that Samson was engaged before he married Delilah, or we can say that Samson broke up the marriage. Adriana was the girl Samson loved and tried to marry. But they never got married. Eventually, Adriana got her own life. Samson became harsh with time. Will Samson be able to find peace again?
I mostly liked the great arts of this novel. Mervyn Mckoy did a beautiful job. Those mesmerizing arts helped me to involve more. A big advantage of reading a comic is that we get more than only good writing, and an example of this is well artwork. The vibrant colors of those pictures made the novel very attractive as well.
I am a fantasy lover, and when I read witch, magic, and a Biblical legend like Lilith, my interest increased more. I know little about these legends because I am a Hindu. So, I decided that it will be best if I read it as a fantasy comic. My interest did not decreased at all.
I didn't find anything wrong about this novel. The uncountable nude pictures reminded me of the Indian Kamasutra manuscript. The sentence on the cover of the novel says that it is suggested for mature readers, and it impressed me. I appreciate the honestly of the author. But this novel is good for readers who are 16 or above. Because there were a lot of pictures of nudity, blood, and cruelty.
I rate this novel 4 out of 4 stars. I didn't give it a 3 because the novel was very good. It contained lots of mesmerizing arts, a good story, and lots of fun elements. The novel was professionally edited. I didn't find any typos. Sometimes I troubled to understand the writing because of the background color. There were no profane words. I recommend the novel for readers who are 16-year-old and above. Children should not read this novel because it contains lots of cruelty and nudity.
