Laura Moss White's compilation of cartoons, "Mrs. White SUB SNIPS," is a delightful read. The book features graphical representations of the situations the author faced during her 15 years as a substitute teacher on each page. The amusing sequences of snippets or photos in this collection create settings that encompass both enjoyable and distressing events. Images have the power to convey a thousand words, and the graphics in this comic strip do just that. The book successfully achieves its goals with fantastic language and lively illustrations.

The book illustrates the challenges of substitute teaching in various settings. It becomes evident that substitute instructors constantly juggle a full schedule with little recognition. They endure stares from certain male staff members and students and contempt from students and other instructors. The sub seems unable to win, consistently held responsible for her actions. Huge to-do lists are consistently imposed upon substitutes as if they were automatons capable of completing tasks quickly. Despite their efforts, substitutes don't enjoy the benefits of being recognized as teachers. They are not allowed to eat or sit with regular teachers, continuously estranged from the teaching team and treated as "guest teachers." Even the school principal chastises them severely for minor transgressions.

Every aspect of the novel was enjoyable, and the humor was well-executed. These glimpses of reality added depth to the humor. Each scenario was expertly captured in every clip, with facial expressions being my favorite aspect throughout. I have no complaints about the book. It appears to be free of grammar or spelling mistakes, suggesting it was properly edited. Therefore, I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it to anyone in need of a good chuckle or an interesting short read. Mature audiences, in particular, will find resonance with the protagonist's struggles, adding an extra layer of enjoyment to the reading experience.
