My 2 cents on sex in books, if the author puts them in, that's their prerogative. But when listing the book, especially on Amazon, there should be an appropriate age rating attached. Amazon gives a broader range than simply 18+, so the author can list it as 13+, 14+, or whatever without dooming it to the adult pile. Children are browsing Amazon, and children do read. The fine-tuned age rating is a tool that audiences didn't have a generation ago, and they're something writers should use to make sure there aren't any angry parents leaving 1-star reviews because of the age-inappropriate material.

Personally, I don't think the length of the scenes is an issue...it is the terrible, cliche vocabulary that was used. It read like a romance novel for 1988 about the highlander bedding the lass with his quivering member. It was just tacky and brought down the rest of the book. The author needed to have someone proofread those scenes for her and she needed to listen to feedback about them.Misael wrote: ↑30 Sep 2018, 06:59 I think erotic scenes should only be prolonged in pure erotic books, and not in other genres. When written in romance, drama or action, they should be shortened because they tend to be boring because some authors basically repeat previous chapters' erotic situations.
