Superhighway by Alex Fayman is among the best technology book I have ever read. The author has a way with words that takes creativity to another level. This is a story of technology and how much power it possesses.
Alexander Fine doesn't know his identity as he has no parents. Having been raised in an orphanage all his life, he isn't familiar with any relatives or family whatsoever. In fact, the owner of the orphanage, Ms. Jenkins, in downtown Los Angeles named him. After several failed attempts in foster homes, he's back where he began. The final blow was at 10 years of age and his foster parents Mr. and Mrs. Collins told him it couldn't work. He doesn't know a good life instead; he lives a day at a time. Making it do.
He goes to a local public school, survives on donations and has nothing to his name. One day, however, rumors go round that their school and orphanage will be beneficiaries of computers by the government. This doesn't happen and not long after the rumors die. At a later time, the computers arrive, and everyone is excited to explore the new technology: Alex the most.
Amongst all the children at the orphanage, Alex is the most excited and can't wait to discover the power of the Internet. Ms. Jenkins understands he's free-spirited and is lenient with him. She allows him to stay in the computer laboratory after the set time. Sometime later, Alex disappears into thin air literally, with no trace whatsoever. On the other hand, Alex is flying through the Internet exploring all over the world. He has access to everything he wants in this world courtesy of the Internet. He can travel through space enabling him to do so much.
With the power at his disposal, he could either do good or bad; help people or steal from them. Whatever he opts to do is dependant on him as every choice has a consequence. During his travels, he discovers so much and participates in charity. All he does he claims he's helping the course of humanity. At one time he starts doing drugs, drinking and some romance here and there.
Fayman has written an amazing fictional story. Moreover, it's perfect in every aspect. The editing was perfectly done because I found no errors. I love how he introduces Alex's background as you progress in the story, considering, he doesn't know his origin. This bit of information puts into perspective the superpower he possesses. Also, it sheds light on the gist and shapes the plot. I give this book a perfect 4 out of 4 stars. It deserves it for the amazing read that it is. I recommend the book to all Science fiction and Fantasy lovers.
