Re: The cover of the book

I guess I didn't consider people shopping just on their kindles. From my sales experience so far, a clear, simple cover that directly applies to the content of the storyline does better at grabbing attention than a crowded and confusing one. I'd still say a title is more important though. and naturally, the content is most important.

I actually get drawn in by a title more than a cover.

I usually, go by the synopsis of the book and maybe sometimes a few random pages, but before that the title and cover have to catch my eye. Doesn't mean I will buy it though.

If the cover looks appealing or if I like the title I am more likely to pick up the book and read the back cover to find out what it is about. Its really unfortunate when great books have awful covers or titles .

The cover absolutely influences whether or not I look into a book. If I already know what I'm looking for, the cover doesn't matter as much (although I will admit to disliking covers depicting a movie version), but just for browsing, it really does matter.

I do not usually take the cover into account when picking out a book. To me, the cover is only good for reading the blurb. When I pick out books, it is usually because it has been recommended to me or the name of the title caught my eye.

I always tend to judge a book by its cover. If it stands out to me, I then look at what its about. Lately I have been finding really good books with great covers.

Yeah, I would have to say that the covers of books have been drawing them to me lately. However, I normally don't buy a book before I've read it, but on the rare occasion of which I do buy a book that I haven't read, it is usually due to a mixture of the summary and the cover.

I'll admit it. I do judge a book by its cover. I try not to. I try to read the synopsis too, but I always catch myself reading over the ones that caught my attention with its cover. However, the title of the book also draws me in. It's rare that I choose a book that has a boring cover AND a mediocre title.

"I normally don't buy a book before I've read it"

I take it then you are a 're-reader' which some here are not.

I will re-read books I own, but unless I am sure that a book is one I will want to re-read often, once I've read it, I see no reason to buy it.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of any books I have read and later sought out for purchase.

I can't help myself... cover and title are 90% of the reason I pick up a book in a bookstore.
Fortunately for all the other books, I can easily spent a couple of hours in a bookstore  ,so they'll get their chance.
Bloopers in my spelling or grammar?? A PM will be greatly appreciated... I do (almost) anything to improve my English!

Yes, the cover grabs my attention a lot. If it's a flashy, well designed cover it will pop out to me quicker than a boring plain color will. I tend to judge a book by it's cover too, which isn't really a good idea. lol

I actually do this when I go shopping at Barnes and Noble. I walk through a section, pick a book up by the spine and look at the cover plus the back part. I feel like this is the authors way of giving a glimpse of what the book is about. Because of this, you can pick books that have covers that appeal to you. Or at least that's what I do :) .

The cover typically helps to grab me. But I will not base getting the book on what is on the cover. If the synopsis on the back cover (or on the inside flap) sounds worth the read, then I will take the book for a spin.
