"Tears and Trombones" by Nanci Lee Woody got me at "music". Turning to music is just my kind of thing. Though I despise that he was abused by his father. Still, I have to read this book in detail.

Love the idea that the protagonist is fond of Johnny Cash's music, and so pleased that you seem to have thoroughly enjoyed this book. It looks like a real winner to me!

Based on the review, this sounds like an extraordinary book. My siblings and I all learned music and/or dance, though my patents never did. So, I can partially understand the character's position at home. The trombone is such a unique instrument.

A fictional story based on a true story about Joey's challenges of becoming a great trombonist, mixed in with an abusive father & trapped mother and having a romance between two women should make for an interesting story. It is good to hear that the author wrote well and that the story kept you reading to find out what would happen next.

I feel for Joey. Just like him, many children out there grow under difficult circumstances like his. Despite everything, Joey remains determined to achieve his dreams. I would really like to read Tears and Trombones by Nanci Lee Woody and follow up Joey's story, if he pulled through. Thanks to the author for the free copy of the book. Great review.

I played the violin all through school. I don't know what I would have done without it, or the support of my family. I think I'd like to read this book because of the family dynamics, and how well written you have said it is. Thank you for the review.

It is the journey of Joey who fights against all odds and stand up to achieve his dream. I'm sure the reader will go through a wave of emotions. I will give this a pass for now. I think most people will relate to the notion of following one's own path however far it may be from their parents' expectations. I also loved the emotional fallout of Joey trying to decide where his love truly lies. The rating is just and thank you for the amazing review.

Tears and Trombones by Nanci Lee Woody is a story about struggle and reach the goal. Joey had lived a life with lots of problems and fought for his dream. I really think of him reaching his goal. Thanks for the free copy. Congratulations on #botd.
