What Are Your Thoughts On Good Omens?

Post by boardj »

So I just finished watching Good Omens and thought it was pretty good! Never read the book but is it worth the read? What are your thoughts on the show?

I couldn't make it through the book. I don't like Neil Gaiman or Terry Pratchett's writing. I know I'm in the minority when saying that. I did try the show and the first episode kept me entertained, then the next did not. From what I have seen of the show, it follows the book for the most part. If you enjoyed the show you will probably like the book.

I read the book before I saw the show. The book came out in 1990 and it's full of popular references from the time, so if you weren't alive then, you probably won't catch everything. I guess that in that sense, the show is better for younger audiences.

I did like the series, especially its light-heartedness, but I won't go around recommending it. It's OK as banal entertainment.

The book was quite charming as well, probably more humorous, but far from a literary masterpiece. It's quite short, so if you know 90s pop culture, I would go for it.

I really liked the show! It took me a little while to get through it... I’m not sure why. But the book is excellent- especially if you are a fan of Neil Gaimen already!
Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a Ride!” HST

It really was an absolutely good one, one of the best. I love the story, characters, plot, themes, suspense, and what a fantastic ending.
