Wow. Tony is a parasite indeed. Did J-J take him down? What about Sophie? Did she accept she was being played by Tony? I'd like to find out the answers to these questions. I'm okay with fast-paced crime thrillers. Thanks.

A fast-paced, action-packed, crime thriller with well-developed characters and a good plot will definitely be interesting. Lovers of this genre will find it engaging. Thanks for the great review.

This sounds like a really fun book. I loved the sample; the characters were so well-developed that one can easily pick up on the story without reading the previous books. I'd love to continue reading it and your review hooked me even more. Thanks!

From a sampling, this seems like an interesting story following a former star who has relationships with strangers. One of these strangers happens to be working for the mob and is taking checks from the star to be used for his own ambitions. As a result, the star's son hires two investigators to investigate what this stranger is doing with the money, and it is not something that the star will like. It seems like it would be worth a second look. Well done.

A Trail of Blood by Peter Goldman with Nicola Malatesta, PI - A crime thriller with a good plot but very bad language, not everyone's cup of tea. Thanks for the detailed review.

There were several high points for me in this book. The character development was superb. None of the characters appeared out of place. They each served a unique purpose, with adequate backstories for their motives to be understood
I read the Sample of this book before coming to your review and even though this book and genre in general is not to my taste, I totally understand what you mean about the characters. Even in the Prologue it only took a few sentences before I had the impression I was standing near by watching two people have a conversation.

I don't think I'll be reading this book, especially if some of the content would "make a nun blush" (and believe me, they don't blush at much), but I do appreciate reading another of your great reviews. And if I may be personal for a moment, your countenance and big smile on your profile picture is so "welcoming" it feels like I'm getting the straight scoop from a friend, not a stranger.

Sincerely, Laura-Lee :text-thankyoublue: :greetings-wavingyellow:

I enjoy reading good mystery and crime novels. This one, with a cast of well developed and interesting characters, sounds like I will certainly enjoy it. Reading the review, I almost thought that I was reading about a more erudite type of Mickey Spillane thriller. I enjoyed those, so I am sure that I will enjoy this book. Your review was well written and colourful, and I enjoyed reading it.

Wow. You really sold this book to me. That plot does indeed sound very original and I can well take some foul-mouthed storytelling.

A good mystery or thriller book is a welcome addition to my weekend. And this crime thriller seems like a wonderful book to read. I'll add this to my 'to read' list. The review was amazing too. Thank you.

Excellent review! This isn't my typical genre, but I really like your description of all the thematic elements that make it a good read, as well as your analysis of it. And, just in case no one else has mentioned it, Albert Camus is an historical figure. He was a French philosopher and writer. He actually won the Nobel Prize for literature in 1957. He died in 1960, so I'm wondering when this story was set. What decade? I guess I'll go read the sample pages to find out. :D

:tiphat: Congrats to Peter Goldman with Nicola Malatesta PI for BOTD honors. "A Trail of Blood" sounds like a real page-turner. I love crime thrillers so I can't wait to read this book.

This sounds like an action-packed crime thriller. I gather that aside from the one character, this book functions easily as a standalone novel?
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!
