This book sounds interesting and deep. The characters seem to be diverse and well developed. Though I am intrigued by it, I'm usually looking for a lighter read. Deeply psychological books inviting the readers to look at mortality are usually too much for me. However, the review makes this book worth a try.

I enjoyed your analysis of the book as well as the description of it. From the sample pages I read, it definitely delves into the deep psychological aspect of a family, as you pointed out.

I noticed in your review that the book seems to focus on Tom (naturally, as he is the patriarch) but the sample pages seemed more from the perspective of the grandson, Lee. Does that continue throughout the book? Or, when Lee returns home (as I'm assuming he does) does the focus stay on Tom? Thanks for a well-written review. I enjoyed reading it and it makes me want to read the book even more.

It is clear that the title is partly explained by the setting of this novel. But as far as I understand from the review, it is a metaphor that pervades even in the way the novel evolves, the "fluidity" of the events as opposed to the causes and justifications, that could be seen as the banks of the river.

It sounds like this one really applies the adage that you can't run away from your problems. It sounds like Tom.has done that by planting himself in a remote cabin away from everyone. This one seemed a bit too slow for my taste, but your review was very insightful. This one is just not a fit for me.

Relationship engines the blood stream. What we do allied and appears in our relatives. The characters you develops will factuate your even four generations. Behave well and change when there's need to avoid appearing or occure to you forthcoming generations thank. The river want social and pandemous behavior in your family, school, church, country in general.
