Have you ever written an ebook? Do you plan on it? Would you consider it?

Do you have any tips for someone thinking about writing an ebook?

I'm working on a short ebook about poverty, but I rarely find time to actually get work done on it.

Writing for an e book is the same as any other writing project, however after you are finished, you must convert the word doc. to various other formats. Usually PDF for Adobe, Mobi for KIndle, e- pub for Nook or Ibook. different distributors may have certain file requirements. Amazon and Barnes and noble offer software that you can download for free, along with manuals and directions. Good Luck !

Thanks for sharing this info.. and Reading on a screen isn’t the same as reading a hard piece of paper, and it’s easier to get distracted by the ding of email (or TweetDeck for me).. Writing in concise sentences packed full of goodness is a much easier way to keep someone rooted to the page, or get them back quickly if they stray..

I've written two e-books now. Both of them were novellas. I figured that I would start small to work out any kinks in the process. I used Smashwords and Amazon to produce them. It was pretty easy. Smashwords has a great step-by-step guide.

I think e-books will revive the markets for novellas and short stories. They can be easily produced and distributed and priced to sell. I've got plans to do some more, but the next project I will try will be a full-length novel.

I have written eBooks and online lessons both for myself and others in the past. A good friend of mine is currently a ghostwriter.

From both perspectives, your best bet is to just write. Write, then hire an editor (or a ghostwriter) to work with you to clean it up and add "personality," if you don`t have it.

Rather than thinking about writing an eBook, perhaps you should just think about telling a story. The format doesn't matter if the story is well written. Once done, then you can decide if you want it in eBook format, or paper or whatever. If you don't go with a traditional publisher, there are plenty of options nowadays to become an indie author, like Amazon, CreateSpace, Smashwords, Lulu, etc.

I can't comment as far as Amazon, but I have used smashwords to publish one of my short stories and I find the entire process worth while, if not entire as speedy as I would of cared for. I would recommend it to anyone who wants to publish e-books as their premium catalogue gives you access to distributors like itunes, kindle, and barnes & noble.

Depends on what you mean. If you are asking where my ideas comes from, its basic with my own disappointment. I read a lot and while I am reading I think I would like to see this or that. I take those ideas and work with them until they are their own story.

Write the story like you would write any other book. Make sure you have good beta readers. If you don't to mess with, ot like me can't figure out the proper way to format, you can hire a formatter. Make sure you have a good cover and blurb.
