William Zinsser - On Writing Well

This book was a total revelation to me when I read it. This guy really practices what he preaches because the book practically reads itself. It includes a chapter for each genre of writing, explaining the nuances of each style and what it takes to stand out. It's really amazing how many writers DON'T follow his advice. Take the hacks at Groupon. Clearly they've never read his chapter on writing humor.
