I am hesitant to read this book. While it sounds intriguing, I'm not sure I want to read a drawn out versions of biblical stories. Looking at other discussion questions that have come up from this book, I have to wonder if this book handles religious content with a contemporary lens or with a traditional approach. One is more respectful to the source material and the other may be more enjoyable as a novel. What have people found so far while reading this book?

The Bible and it's happenings is one thing that every Christian and Bible reader is conversant with. Growing up these stories seemed like everyday resounding topics to me but I love the twist the author used in getting people to read. He made it seem like a total different story by adding a lot of twist and new ideas to it. I recommend this book to all Bible story lovers and will rate this really high.

Plus if your faith is shaky, or you are a young Christian, does it have any negative impact on your spiritual growth?
For Christians, God is almighty, all-knowing, and perfect, so it's puzzling to read about worry and doubt.

As a Christian it is sometimes hard to imagine the "human" aspect of people from the Bible. As mentioned, it does not get down to the nitty-gritty. If, however, you have an open mind, this book might be good. The bible focuses on the sin, murder. I suspect the book explains, in an imaginative way, how Cain got to that point. I don't have a rating yet but I would be willing to read it.

Overall I'd rate this book 4 out of 4. There's no denying this fact that this book was well written with great fillers. The author's creative imagination to write an already known verse was just commendable!

I had a hard time getting the book, couldn't get it from Amazon, but you can download it in a special format under today's BOTD link, and there is information available on how to get the book in the folder you're usually reading from (phone, Kindle...).
Thank you for this tip! I was having trouble getting the book also, but now I can start. It sounds intriguing, especially because I'm non religious
I think non-religious people will have an easier time with this book than will very devout readers, especially devout readers who favor a strict interpretation of the Bible.
That's so interesting. I can see how it would be difficult for devout readers to read a different interpretation.

Very fascinating...as a Christian I noticed that the author rewrite the stories from the bible in his own ways, tho the plot is still the same...I like it and it also shows that there are deeper meanings of the bible stories I used to know as a child.

There are some Bible stories that can be vastly expanded with a little imagination without taking away from what the story initially wishes to convey. I think the author did a magnificent job with Killing Abel.

This book is creative, informative, and intriguing. Tieman is a gifted artist of words and have put his gifts to great use by taking a simple Bible story to great new levels.

I'm not usually interested in reading religious books, but this one imparted a few lessons and is very relatable. I really enjoyed reading it.

I'm about halfway through the book and part of me simply wants to stop reading it altogether. The concept is good, the writing is good, but the presentation is totally awful with Adam and Even and their numerous children speaking as if they hold advanced degrees. Plus, anachronisms abound. But I'll power through, finish it and write a complete review.

I am religious, and as a Christian who's familiar with Bible stories, the book's title drew me to it and I found the author did not disappoint; I found it very interesting. The plot is accurately founded on the Bible and the author creatively expounded on some areas that are not so explicit in the Bible. Therefore, for me this book is nothing but four out of four stars.

I think it is a 4/4 because it has a very interesting fiction approach to it which I enjoy. Adam and Eve were the main character. They had Abel and Cain as there children. Eve kept saying don't let Cain kill Abel. Sadly Abel was murdered. Its hard to understand in a way. The thing is Why did it happen? It is interesting how its different from the bible.
