Review by Honest-reviewer -- The Judge part 1 and 2
The novel The Judge: Part 1 and 2 is a murder mystery written by Ian RB Morris. As the name suggests, the book has 2 parts. It is a fantastic suspense story revolving around the murder a male prostitute, Bobby Black.
The story begins with the murder of Bobby Black. Peter Ritchie, the ex-lawyer of Bobby is called to identify the body. He suspects it to be a murder but, the police officer is reluctant to investigate the case considering Bobby’s job. Peter is bent upon finding the killer. It is later found that Bobby keeps a diary which has the details of all his clients. Along with all the names there is also a name of a reputed High Court Criminal Judge; Sir Justin Hodge. So now, what do you think will happen? Will Peter be successful in providing justice to Bobby? Well, this book, when read will reveal it!
The Judge: Part 1 and 2 is undoubtedly a page-turner. It has all the elements that a murder mystery novel should have. The book has a lot of twists and turns which keep the readers engaged. The story goes on without any unnecessary exaggeration or interruption. Mr Morris has skilfully crafted all the characters as well as the plot. The language used is very simple.
My favourite part in the story is the suspense itself. The way it unfolds is exceptional. I could have hardly guessed it. The fact that the author has not made this story monotonous is definitely admirable. I especially appreciate the role of Peter in finding the killer. It was not required for him to do all that for his ex-client whom he was not even in touch with. I also like the character of Peter’s girlfriend, Naomi. It is nice to read the brief details about her background given in the book. The character of the judge is worth mentioning. It is portrayed very well and is practical to some extent. I thoroughly enjoyed the investigation part of the story. It is quite intriguing. I am highly impressed by the author’s writing style. It is eloquent and vivid which makes me want to read more of his books.
There is absolutely nothing in the story that I disliked. Though Bobby is a prostitute, the details of his work is not mentioned and I liked that. I did not find any errors in the book. So I can say that the novel is professionally edited. With this, I rate The Judge: Part 1 and 2, 4 out of 4 stars.
The book contains minor profanity and sexual content, so I do not recommend this to children. This is suitable for the people interested in crime, thriller and mystery genre. It may not appeal to the people who are sensitive to murder and thriller contents. So, if you like reading this genre, then you must definitely read this book.
