Overall I'd rate Zona 3 out of 4 stars. I loved the plot and setting, but I felt that it sometimes dragged on for too long. And yeah, I agree with the others about it becoming less believable as I got further into the book.

Uncle Randell is missing and presumed dead. Dr Grant Taylor fists his eyes on what he believed to be Uncle Randell's journal; In it, is the possible location to find Uncle Randell. So, Taylor takes off for the search of Uncle Randell, which eventually turned into an awesome adventure. Taylor met Irina; they go off to find land high up in the mountains were large animals live. The read becomes more interesting as Irina and Taylor meets others.

Despite the read being overwhelming, I was put off by the book's sluggish build-up! In other words; the tale is a little wordy. Otherwise, it is an amazing novel. What is your take on this book's duration? Mostly, in the first 3 Chapters.

When I started reading this book at first, I was impressed and thrilled with the way the book was unfolding, although at the end I almost didn’t want to finish it because I couldn’t feel the thrill I felt from the start. However, I think the book was a good read and it ended quite well after all the engaging suspense in it. I would recommend anyone who loves suspense to read it.

I just started reading the novel and wondered about its slow start. I feel reassured.

I haven't yet read the book, so I can't give it a rating or opinion. But judging by others' opinions, I think I can expect a fun and interesting book with a great beginning and, perhaps, a less-than exciting middle and end. We'll see!

I haven't read this book yet, and the review sounds promising. I love reading about expeditions to forbidden places, I believe this one is worth reading. Siberia is worth exploring anyway :)

I would give this book two out of four stars. Although I enjoyed many aspects of it, and it certainly moved quickly during the last two-thirds of the novel, and was even funny at times, the weakening of Grant's character, the unnecessary sex scenes, and other contrived efforts to advance the story made it difficult to get through sometimes. I cannot deny that the author is a good writer, and their style was certainly worth reading for me, but I don't know that I would enthusiastically recommend that someone purchase it.

The book started with so much thrills and suspense, but the engagement reduced as the chapters went on. I love the story and the build up though, but I think the high tempo could have been maintained. I will rate it 3 out of 4 stars.

I really enjoyed this book, while I agree that there were a number of parts that were slow-paced detracting from the overall energy of the book, the beginning of the book had a really nice intro and build up into the journey the characters were taking. Ultimately the story was interesting. There is something about a group going on an adventure into the unknown that is just exciting. While there were some parts of the book and some characters/scenes that did not add value to the storyline, overall I would recommend the book as an interesting read.

Well, so far I give this book 3 out of 4 stars. I'm still reading, but I can say so far the first few chapters were interesting, however, the more I read the less I am liking the book! I will have to see how I feel when I am finished reading it! :techie-studyinggray:

i agree the first few chapters were a bit boring but i kept on going since as the story continues to build, the more interesting things started to get. And now i wasn't able to even stop reading it since i wanted to know what would happen next.

The book started off building a tension, which is good if you want the reader’s to keep turning the pages. It made it quite interesting but then it got slow and slightly boring, either way it was an interesting read.

I love how dynamic and complex the book is. The characters are unique and the storyline intense and has some thrill to it. It is a depiction of human flaws and strengths. However, I really struggled with the build up. Maybe I'm impatient, but I found it took too long to get into the gist of the story.

I would recommend the book, but with caution.

In my bookshelf, I gave the novel 3 out of 4 stars, though it's a bit of a stretch. After the start, with the actual tale of the expedition into Zona, the pace accelerates, but it seems that the author focused a lot on its effect on people's sexuality, and I see that there's a thread about it. In the end, it was pretty good, but I felt there could be more, especially after the final twist. Rating it 2 stars would have been too harsh, but I think it needs a sequel.
