Re: Is Sex really necessary?
That part about being deterred by natural instinct holds a lot of water.

You can say that again!!! Yes, books don't have to include sexual scenes to hold a reader's interest.

Indeed! The book would have moved on faster if these scenes were avoided or reduced.Elvis Best wrote: ↑02 Jul 2020, 00:53 In my opinion, the sex scenes were a distraction from what was actually happening. I found it shocking that author decided to add sex scenes. It adds up to why I felt the book dragged on for a bit too long.

My thoughts too. I think it's necessary for persons who may not enjoy the science.The_Vivian wrote: ↑01 Jul 2020, 16:08 I wouldn't want to completely rule out the necessity of the sex in the book even though I think it could have been left out. It was however a necessary plot for persons who may not have ordinarily enjoyed the science.

Yes. Though the author had his own reasons for including such content, what matters at the end is the reader's preference

They usually portray either an ideal encounter or an exceptional one, and that helps the reader to build his/her own fantasyRealidad20_ wrote: ↑22 Jul 2020, 09:43 Although everyone has their idea of what sex is, with whom they should do it and how. I will say books, movies and websites give ideas far from expectations. Making consumers have an urge to experience the picture-perfect in their thoughts and through actions. I believe Grant finding time for sexual encounters, is included to attract readers who are fond of sexually explicit content and show a side of true human nature.

In this fiction the author has reasonalized the use of such content, so it doesn't feel like completely out of place

The personal preference matters a lot from the reader's point of viewMisty20058 wrote: ↑22 Jul 2020, 18:47 I personally thought it was unnecessary and did not help the plot or book.
