I think it's both religious and fictional. The Bible is the backbone of the book and the author does not change even a word in the Bible. I however don't think it's a good book for children, unless you are able to to make them understand why Cain married his sister but your son can't.

Its more fictional than religious.That said, i would not give it to children even those who know the true stories, because it might distort their perception of the true stories and the lessons behind them.
