I loved the story. It is a truly, eerily plausible forecast of the future! The flow of the story is intriguing, the descriptions keep you tuned in, and as alluded to prior, the possibility of it being factual is there in its words. I loved the morsel that was shared! Two thumbs up, with applause!

I wonder how there are no action scenes, really. That would have made this book more “heightening.” Nevertheless, the storyline looks very intriguing and I’m sure I will enjoy finding out what later happens to Ella. It’s a shame about the errors too; I hope something can be done to correct them since this is such an engaging story.

The issue of climate change has taken a back seat to the more urgent worries courtesy of the coronavirus. The decrease in economic activity has, in fact, been allowing the planet to heal itself. I wonder if the virus stemmed from climate change, though.

I am intrigued that the author chose two women protagonists. How will Ella and Riley fare in this new world?

I am happy for Ella. However, I wonder if this means that in her world less healthy elders are considered a burden to the state. It is a book which intrigues me yet frightens me.

This dystopian novel is definitely a nice one. I like it that the story is written in simple and clear language. However, I'm not fond of thought-provoking post-apocalyptic or dystopian novels, and I think this is not my type of genre. Otherwise, congrats on the BOTD!

Natural disasters being a usual thing, unlimited life spans, and a lesser number of children due to infertility...this is scary. Thank you for the review, you are right, this book is a must read to understand what our world will be if we don't pay attention.

When I first read the book's title, I thought to myself,"this must be a post-apocalyptic story". Seems I was right after all. The book is insightful.

I have already read this book, and I must say I enjoyed it. If it weren't for the plethora of errors throughout the book, I am sure that I could have enjoyed it more. Congratulations to the author!

A thought-provoking theme intertwined in a dystopian and mysterious landscape. This book sounds like a must-read for all those that are concerned with where the planet is headed, and who would like to start thinking about how to make the world a better place for the future generations. Thank you so much for your detailed and delightful review! Happy reading :techie-studyinggray:

An interesting take on post-apocalyptic future, this story managed to get me hooked just by the sample. The 'elder' is an interesting concept. Thank you for the review.

Great review and a great story. This book is a unique take in books of dystopian worlds. We usually have young adults as protagonists in these types of stories. But here we have a sixty-year-old protagonist and that is interesting in itself. And especially in the wake of global warming and other natural disasters, this story can be an eye-opener of what would happen if we don't change our ways. The freedom and the nature we take for granted today can be valuable commodities in the future and futuristic stories like this give us a glimpse into that.

Sometimes, to stay safe comes with a lot of sacrifice. It's not 2039 yet and we've all experienced the emotional weight of the global lockdown caused by the novel coronavirus outbreak. I'll say that Wark's vision happened sooner than she projected.
