Review by Phelicia Gloria -- We are Voulhire: A New Arri...
Surely, you can never know what the future holds for you. When you make an attempt and then you come out of your comfort zone, you must find success whichever the amount. We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies by Mathew Tysz is a fantasy about a young man Galen Bray who moves out of his Land, to a strange land looking for peace. The risk that he placed himself into landed him a great and happy life that he never thought he would live.
Bray gets to Caelum a place he had never known, all his food had been finished within the two days that he traveled. He does not know where to start. He is worried about how his stay in Caelum would be but gets surprised at his arrival. He meets Mayor Malcolm of Caelum, who surprisingly acknowledges his eyes. He says that his eyes resemble that of a blacksmith, his great uncle who left lots of business in the country. Although he had never met his uncle, neither did his uncle ever meet him, he is informed of being entitled to the wealth left behind by his uncle. Do you see how a journey you are traveling to now may be a connection to your great destiny?
Galen Bray is taken around the city of Voulhire by Rowan and is really surprised about the life these people live in by asking so many questions. I liked how gentle these people were with strangers. Every day was a tour day for him. As a young man who had never seen such wealth, came from a disrupted land, and had never been to such a place, do you think Bray will be able to maintain all the wealth and maintain the business the uncle left behind? Get to know!
The author uses different styles of writing for example suspense and humor especially in areas where there was dialogue.
What I liked most in We are Voulhire: A New Arrival under Great Skies was the chronological flow of events. Each subheading was well introduced and one could not get lost in the stories. I also liked the author’s combination of themes in this book. Although there was war in the other land, peace could be found on this other land. I would also say that the book was professionally edited as I never met any grammatical error.
I met some minor dislike when reading, the book lacked page number and chapters. I would recommend this book to all adults especially those who like fantasy novels though might not be the right book for the children due to heavy vocabulary used in the book and also due to the profane language in it.
I would then rate this book 4 out of 4 stars . I gave it full rating because I never met any major dislike.
