I picked Fantasy as it I tend to read more of it than other genres, but I do read quite a bit of most other genres too - except for romance, yuck. They are all the same story from what I've seen - different names and different locals, but still the same storyline in my opinion.

Daphne, I noticed you are new and filled out questionnaire thread. May I say you are definitely not alone in not fitting in with the average age group here! I'm 38 (female)...and you? Well, if you want to share that is. I don't mean to be nosey.

Ahh but Wordsgood, how much romance fiction have you actually read to substantiate that claim?

There is a lot of romance pap out there, yes. But no more than there is in any other genre.

Ok, you might have me there. I was thinking in terms of Harlequins when I said that, but yes there is a lot of romance in most genres. I just didn't think of it that when responding to this thread!

Hello Wordsgood,

By telling you my age, i may become unpopular on this book forum, or i may become popular because of my vast wisdom, or probably it will make no difference at all. I am 57, have 2 grown children, have been a high school teacher and am now a technical writer because i got tired of homework. so working 9 - 5 is easier than teaching English for me, mostly because my spare time is my own now. Teaching was a great experience though; became exposed to so many books and had to learn much more than i ever had. To teach, you have to know the material, and really, i had just slid through college instead of applying myself. Now what am i doing confessing that?!

well, i am probably the oldest person on this blog!

Well, I personally don't care what your age is. I'm just glad you found us.

Age has nothing at all to do with reading - except that you've had more years to do more of it!

Hello sleepydumpling - just wondering if you can post a new topic on picking a book for August? Thanks!

She said that she could not as she is not one of the assigned people for that forum...she also mentioned that the person who could should be along before too long.

I've voted for Fantasy although I like a lot Sci-fi too, I think they might have been put under the same category in your pool.
