The official review is very good. This is a story that captures attention because many people have grown up in an abusive household. Pursue your dreams and never give up. A good story to put on your to read list.

No other book has captivated me as this one did.The story of a mamma's boy in a world where half of his family doesn't understand his ambition or his dreams.His guilt over lying to his teacher and him trying to make up for it by leaving her flowers tucked at my heart.His pain when he thought that his mother might die brought tears to my eyes.Its not just the emotions but the realism of the book that captures your attention as well.Not too fast not too slow-just the perfect pace.The author has done an amazing job at it.Adding to my list of book I want.

As someone that was born in a less privileged life, I'm sure I'll be able to relate to Joey. Although I don't think a story that centers on a musician, much less a trombonist, is something that I'd enjoy, this seems well-written and the storytelling, effective.

My first few words of this review have steered the hunger to read this book. I just want to find out how Joey deals with life's odd even though he comes from a not so good home.

Thanks for your review. I sampled the book, and yes, it's well written and realistic. However, I'm not very fond of Joey's behaviors. He seems a bit too spoiled.

Blending historical fiction with coming-of-age, this book, which is based on a true story, is sure to be inspirational.
There is no frigate like a book
To take us lands away,
Nor any coursers like a page
Of prancing poetry.
This traverse may the poorest take
Without oppress of toll;
How frugal is the chariot
That bears a human soul!
