How effective are keywords?

How effective are keywords?

Having recently published a contemporary romantic novel on Kindle, I have become intrigued as to how effective keywords are in assisting individual readers find the characters and storylines they like best. I checked through my own keywords and came up with the following, which may prove of interest to both other authors and perhaps to readers in general:
Keyword: Resulting number of titles

Romance: 88,270
Mystery romance: 8,931
Passion: 4,423
English Lakes: 3,383
Special Forces: 2,371
True-love: 1,515
Prejudice: 1,364
Pride: 1,175
Romantic Intrigue: 547
James Bond: 226
Lake District: 119
Award winning authors: 80
Award winning novels: 62
Modern Mr Darcy: 20
James Bond type: 3

Pretty mind-boggling numbers for the most part. I reckon anything more than 100 titles to search through is hard work. Nevertheless, it does indicate that carefully created keywords can actually work.
I would love to know if other authors and readers alike, find keywords work for them.

The keywords are more effective.If we want search anything we search it through the related keywords.

Keywords are most effective because it helps to improve quality page rank.

Keywords are definitely helpful to me. Sometimes the pursuit is a bit tedious, but the tool is indispensable when the name of an obscure author escapes me, or when I'm trying to delimit based on something I've just "heard" about.
