Do you ignore people when reading a good book?

I prefer reading when am alone so that I can concentrate on the book.

I used to, but with time, I have trained myself to be able to respond to others if I need to, no matter how deep I am into the book.
I had to work on it though for a long time as I hate to be impolite.
Now, I can focus on my book and still give a somewhat passable reply if need be.

More than one occasion has someone tried talking to me while reading and I don't even notice them there! That's how you know it's a good book!

I am guilty of ignoring people when I am reading a particularly interesting book. In a household of about 10 working members reading for an extended amount of time is a luxury. But, ignoring people can be easily achieved with so many people to have your back.

Gosh, I do it more often then I should. My sister gets on my case when I ignore her and continue with my reading. But sometimes the read is too good to be interrupted.

It really depends on what they’re doing. I can easily ignore my family. However, my friends are pretty persistent in that case. When they really want me to listen to them, I have no chance reading my book. But it never happens that I wouldn’t even realise they’re talking. I can always hear them, but I don’t concentrate on it.

Yes! I'm guilty of doing that. Usually my sister loves to talk while she watch Kdramas while I read. And then she would stop and ask/ talk to me about something, while I have my nose on the tip of my book, and my ears not hearing anything. Oopss.

I used to be so anxious about this very thing, that I could never read books comfortably when people were around. I didn't want to be viewed as impolite or ignorant. So, for a long time, I would only read when I am alone, but for the past 2 years in my self-improvement journey, I've learned to maintain a nice balance of being immersed in the book and being attentive to my surrounding as well.

All the time. Sometimes I use reading as an excuse for why I'm ignoring someone.

I would not intentionally ignore someone...HOWEVER if it is an intense book and it hold my attention I can tune out the dogs barking, the doorbell and my kids! When you. Are lucky enough to read a book like that that a real find!

Yes all the time. I find myself going back and forth trying to re-read the last line I had read when am interrupted, so I ignore people.

I know this isn't a good habit but I do this, especially when I'm reading a page-turner.

Unintentionally so. I have trouble processing any outside stimulation when I am reading. I either barely hear what the person is saying or I will just outright ignore. Especially when someone can clearly see I am reading and they keep throwing bits of conversation at me.
