I love a good sci-fi book. I think that there should be way more books about the potential outcome of climate change . To this day , there are still people who do not believe it is a real thing. It is really interesting to see people’s takes on what the future will look like if the problem of climate change isn’t resolved. But I hope that we never have to get to this point. I’ll definitely give it a read.

Quite an original concept for a book. The birth project is very disturbing because, with the way of the world today, and the desire of some for population control, this futuristic idea could easily become a reality! I don't know how Summer could face each day working in the lab! I am not a sci-fi fan so I will pass on this one, but thanks for the excellent review!

My favorite feature of the book has to be character development. Tayma Tameem has created characters that are very easy to connect to and fully pull the readers into the pages of the book. The self-centered nature of man is explored through these characters, as most of the characters selfishly fight for their interests without considering the consequences for others, which is what got them into the chaos, through climate change, in the first place. However, the reasons for their actions are well explained, and we get to understand why they act the way they do. Also, this trait in the characters ensures that there are a lot of clashes that will keep readers rooting for their favorite characters and on the edge of their seats throughout.

Outstanding character development is the most important thing for me in a novel. And I guess we can all be selfish when presented with life and death circumstances, such as the scarcity of water.

Thanks for the good overall review of this story. I like a very small number of Sci-fi novels and this one may well fit into that category. There are a couple of themes I do not agree with but after reading a few chapters I could tell it is a book that draws the reader into the characters and the plot. It seems to me that if the Outliers are surviving in the desert, that the Forge Corporation do not have total control of water supplies. Sadly, there is one aspect at the beginning of the story that seems to becoming more prevalent in society today. Perhaps this book may cause readers to re-examine their beliefs.
