How to be Successful, Think Like a Leader by M. Curtis McCoy is a story of courage, resilience, and victory. The author ventured into business at a young age but was unfortunately diagnosed with brain cancer when he was 27 years. Due to this illness, he lost his business as he pursued medical treatment. His story is one of triumph over brain cancer and diabetes, rebounding and starting afresh. His rebound saw him start and grow 'Best Cellular' an American company offering cell phones and wireless services.

How to be Successful, Think Like a Leader, is a compact book containing a substantial number of values and insights. The book has 27 chapters spread over 185 pages. The chapters are a mesh of the author's experience, interviews from different successful business personalities, and a compiled narration from diverse interactions the author has had. The interview questions are identical for all interviewees and are focused on success. The responses to the questions reveal that success is not solely computed with financial gain but entails much more. Success is loyalty, integrity, good morals, teamwork, continuous personal growth, physical exercise, networking, and sacrifice; to name a few of the gems hidden in this book. The participants who have implemented these values in their lives and businesses have reaped extensively.

The author in this book has revealed that setbacks, perceived failure in individual endeavors, could be used to build character. It is a book that is keen on improving the reader's life. The author's experience and stories shared are easy to relate to. I find this book, not to be a typical motivational book if the contents are utilized affirmatively. It is a gem of a book.

I have tremendously enjoyed reading this book. It is not only motivational but inspiring. I have learned a lot from its pages, lessons that I am taking home with me, advice that I plan on implementing. Overall it is a well-written book. I have loved the layout of the chapters, the mesh of life experience narration coupled with strategy, advice, and motivation.

I did not find anything negative about this book. However, I would have appreciated more depth in the leadership skills shared in the book to match its title.

The book is well written, properly edited, and for that I give a rating of 4 out of 4 for the How to be Successful, Think Like a Leader
