Review of Speedy hurled through havoc
The circus and its thrill are something to be experienced. It brings excitement, suspense, and the ones our mind can't understand we term 'magic.' While reading Speedy hurled through havoc by David Letterfly Knoderer, I'm almost jealous one person gets to experience so much.
David's childhood may not be described as ideal, as he had a perfectionist father who he looked up to so much and craved his attention. This led him to leave home often early to find himself and seek the attention he lacked at home. As the book progressed, we find out that his elder brother was diagnosed with autism which also challenged the family, and his younger sister was withdrawn from them. This left him a lonely child. His father was a Lutheran pastor who somehow painted a perfect family to those outside, but the warmth didn't get home.
David developed a love for the circus and art and became creative. Unfortunately, his father, Billy, wasn't receptive to this development and was jealous his son was living his dream. David started as a show drummer, where his interest in animals spiked. He made good friends, which he valued. He believes that the relationship he had with animals improved his relationship with his parents and the universe entirely. There were low times too in his life, and he also shares these times and how he was able to go through them in this intriguing book.
This book has some positive aspects for me. It encourages determination and has zero self-pity tolerance. The author makes one feel like they have experienced a carnival or circus. His strong narrating technique adds colors to the imagination, thus keeping one spellbound. I also learned new words like 'tyke,' 'teamster,' and 'kingpole'. In general, it was easy to flow with the book, and it was easy to enjoy the book as though I was in It.
However, I saw some negative aspects to this book. It wasn't easy to understand and relate to the first part of this book. It is scattered and lacks coherence. Also, it contains unnecessary repetitive details that made it lengthy. This may bore readers.
I found minimal errors in this book. It was professionally edited. I rate this book 4 out of 4 stars. This is because the negative aspects didn't make my reading experience less enjoyable. I recommend this book for creatives, people who have trouble breaking out of a troubled childhood.
