The Beginning of The End: It Starts by John K. Williamson is a sci-fi story about the end of civilization as we know it. The United States of America experienced series of nuclear attacks, which resulted in the loss of millions and the breakout of wars amongst the nations on earth.

John Hill could sense something was wrong, and together with his cellmate, Marvino Buck, at Cook County jail, he hatches a plan to escape before things go south.

Janay Williamson, a sheriff and guard at Cook County jail, finds herself fighting for her life, a zeal spurred on by the thought of her kids after being locked in with murderers and butchers alike as the world comes to an end.

Henry Haynes, a war veteran and now a doctor, checks in at the hospital for his regular shift, only to find moments later that the world has undergone a drastic change. With violence and death surrounding them, they all have one goal in common: fighting for survival.

A standout part of the book was how organized the book was, and the detailed storyline about each of the significant characters in suspense-filled chapters kept me hooked. The author was direct about his approach to how the world would end, and he graphically detailed humanity at its lowest ebb. Each chapter brings you to the edge, leaving you a bit confused about what would happen next. This is an apocalyptic book at its finest. The storyline of the main characters was brilliant, and they complemented one another perfectly. This was what I liked the most about the book.

A sour part of the book was the numerous cuss words littered throughout its pages. Despite the fact that it takes nothing away from the author's brilliant writing, the profanities and the well-detailed subplots about rape, excessive violence, and human abuse in the book might discourage young readers interested in the story from reading it, thereby depriving them of a masterpiece. This is what I disliked the most about the book.

Nevertheless, the book was a spectacular read. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment I spent reading it. The book was professionally edited as I could only notice one spelling error while I read it. I would rate The Beginning of The End: It Starts by John K. Williamson 4 out of 4 stars. This is due to the way the author was able to paint a picture of chaos, strife, war, and the fracture of the balance of humanity expertly in a manner that would get every reader hooked.

I recommend this book to readers who love reading about thrillers, suspense, and apocalyptic novels.
