The book, in summary, is a story of recovery and growth. The story is about a very talented man, who, in his young age, went to live his life in the circus and grow into becoming a well-respected painter and performer of classic horsemanship. David "Letterfly" Knoderer's life from youth to mid age was described in a very meaningful and refreshing way. It covered a great deal about healing through forgiveness from childhood traumas, forging natural talents into lifelong skills and finding real meaning of life as he developed a greater sense about God. There are so many people introduced in the book that made great impact in the life of the author as well as to readers.

The book was like a therapy for me. It offered a new perspective about circus life, understanding people's behavior by looking into their family backgrounds and forgiveness as a way to freedom. Though challenges encountered by the author were thoroughly described, I never felt stressed, but I felt comfort, as if the author's life was mine. How he described the events in his life were relatable to many people, especially to the youth who are just starting in life. Another is his journey on becoming reliant to divine power. I love how he emphasized his transition from self-reliant person into a surrendered man of God. Great affection to animals was also a good aspect of this book and how connections with animals can develop a person when human relationships were involved.

I found the intro of the book lengthy. There's too much use of adjectives for one matter. The author used at least three words to describe a thing or event. There were some typographical errors in the least. How the book ended was good but I didn't not have a hint that it is already finished. It's like the end was so abrupt, I wasn't ready for it. But other than that, the concept and flow of chapters and subchapters were well-written.

I will rate this book 3/4. I had a good read about Knoderer's life and I enjoyed seeing circus and murals from his perspective. There's so much optimism we can get from it. I didn't gave 4 because of the lengthy intro and abrupt ending. The book might need another run for errors.

I highly recommend it to people of young age, who needs healing from childhood traumas and those who lack motivation in life. People who are imprisoned by alcoholism are encouraged to read this. I personally felt refreshed and at peace after reading this book.
