Cecilia Harrow is the Princess of Hell. It’s all she knows except for one single memory of a protector who gave her a gift as a baby. She rules in Hell for centuries alongside her father, Lucifer, until she decides to escape. Cecilia runs away to Virginia and ends up enrolling in high school after a mysterious connection with a stranger. She attempts to live a normal life in hiding but her past is looming closely behind her. Lucifer would never give up the search for his daughter. Cornell High turns out to be the last place she should have run to for normalcy as she learns much about her fellow students. The school itself has a dark history and she gets sucked into something bigger than she could have imagined. Cecilia ends up with her heart on the line and is forced to make a major decision when her past catches up with her.

Vagabond by Mary A. J. was an entertaining read. I devoured the book in a single day. Fantasy in the form of angels and fallen angels is my weakness. I also love a witty protagonist with a backbone and Cecilia is just that. The way Mary A. J. wrote Cecilia really helps the reader to get to know and understand her inner turmoil and battle against who she is versus who she wants to be. The love triangle feature is another major hook. Featuring a morally grey interest and a golden boy interest, this novel has everything I need for a binge read.

My main complaint is that the plot line leaves you on a major cliffhanger. Hopefully a second book is coming soon! I also wish there was more back story on some of the other students. I loved the characters so anything to help me get a better understanding of them, I would have soaked up.

I am rating this book a 4 out of 4 stars .

Vagabond is perfect for anyone who loves fantasy and dark academia. If you enjoyed the Fallen series or Mortal Instruments then this book is for you! This book will pull you into the plot and leave you wanting more. From the love triangle, to a school dripping with dark magic, to the hunt for a missing artifact, to the final showdown, the pages will keep turning.
