Love, loss, adventure, and ancient bloodlines bring Chasing The Red Queen by Karen Glista to life. Chasing The Red Queen is a riveting story about a teenage girl who struggles with loss and change when her mother gets remarried and her family has to move. Donja is a goth girl who sets off on an adventure that will change her life completely, after leaving her old life behind. Learning to live in a new city is tough enough for any teenager however, Donja's life is forever changed when she learns that she is part of a tribe that is thought to have died out many years before.

When I started reading Chasing The Red Queen, I enjoyed how Glista described Donja and her pain. I love how there are so many surprises and twists in the story and the inclusion of crime keeps you enthralled in the story. I enjoy the different ways in which Glista has introduced vampiric figures in the book. Even though there is a fair amount of gore in the book I found that it did not bother me too much because it was factual. Torin and Gage are characters that are mysterious enough to make you think but not too mysterious that you are not interested in reading more. Glista finds ways to grip your attention so that the story never bores you which I enjoyed a lot in this book. The relationship between Donja and her mother is one that most girls can relate to especially when it comes to falling in love. Ancient family drama grabs your attention right from the start and makes sure this is a book that you do not want to put down.

There is nothing I did not enjoy while reading this book. I found that it was very well written as well as professionally edited.

I rate this book a 4 out of 4 stars because it was well written and edited and there was nothing that I did not like.

I would recommend this book for anyone who enjoys fantasy novels and has an open mind when it comes to fantasy creatures. This book is a great read for teens and adults alike.
