If I didn't start reading, I would be the dullest person to imagine. Reading gives me life, hope, inspiration and dreams to strive to achieve. Reading has changed my life for the good.

For sure. A character's lifestyle, outlook, or moral code can make me want to be more (or less) like them. Books of philosophy can change one's whole world view sometimes. Other times, the change brought on by one book is less dramatic but there is a cumulative effect of a series of different books tending in the same direction. To me, this influence and dialogue with books is one of the important reasons to read them.

It is a definite YES. As for me my perspective is broadened and I tend to understand situations and people more. That is apart from the knowledge I gain.

To quote The History Boys by Alan Bennet (I know it's a play shh I still read it)

"Timms: Sir. I don't always understand poetry.
Hector: You don't always understand it? Timms, I never understand it. But learn it now, know it now and you'll understand it whenever.
Timms: I don't see how we can understand it. Most of the stuff poetry's about hasn't happened to us yet.
Hector: But it will, Timms. It will. And then you will have the antidote ready! Grief. Happiness. Even when you're dying.
We're making your deathbeds here, boys!"

Often you don't like to listen to people giving you advice but when you read this same advice through a book it is sometimes more likely to get through to you.

“there have been so many times
i have seen a man wanting to weep
but
instead
beat his heart until it was unconscious.

Of course it can. Books can shape our thoughts, opinions, and also our actions. There are so many new things I've tried out because a character in a book I was reading did it, like cooking certain foods, doing yoga, etc.

Yes, I agree that reading books can change people's lives. Many successful people's common hobby has been reading and learning from books.

Honestly yes. Reading is a whole new world you get the opportunity to see the world from someone else's perspective. Not just what you hear them say or what you see them do, you get to be inside their mind. Hearing their every thoughts. Reading can serious change your perspectives about certain situations and therefore change your life.

Yes. Reading will make people more sensitive and empathetic. A great book has the ability to entirely change its reader's mindset. Even pulp fiction can teach us about humans and their nature.

Reading definitely can have a great impact on one's life. So, it's important to evaluate anything you are reading so as as not to receive everything the authors say at face value.

Yes it can. I've read a couple of books that actually answered quite a few questions I had since I was small. It gave me perspective and made me realise, that my way of thinking about certain things aren't wrong.

Yes, it helps broaden your mind. Movies can do a similar thing but because reading takes more time and focus, you get to absorb the content better. I have learnt so much from the books I have read so far, and that includes fiction and children's stories. I also apply everything I have learnt especially from books about personal and spiritual growth, entrepreneurship, and a lot more.
