Do you prefer books with long or short chapters ?

I prefer short chapters for several reasons.
It makes it easy to stop reading when needed.
It makes me feel like I’m reading the book faster.
I give myself little goals and try to shatter them with short chapters.
It just makes it fun for me.

I like books with less than twelve chapters. I love books with few and long chapters.

I like short chapters more, since I can pick the book up and quickly read a chapter.

I also don't care. Even though chapters that are only half page long bother me if they are put one after another. It feels like it stops the flow of a book. If the book is good, however, I really don't care about the length of the chapters.

Short chapters or at least divided chapters. Lately I really don't like stopping in middle of chapter or division.
Especially on Kindle where I see the time, short chapters read a lot faster because I read more if it's always just another 5-15 min rather than seeing 1h or more per chapter.

I don't really have a preference. If the story is good, I won't even pay attention to the length of the chapters.

I prefer short chapters i like to kid myself into saying "just one more chapter before bed will be fine" and usually read another 5.

Since I normally read in bed, I usually divide the long chapters into halves. Unless I'm feeling a little more not-tired, then I will probably read the whole chapter.

It depends. If it's long but I enjoyed reading the content, I never mind how long it is, but if it's short and I hate the content, it's frustrating and exhausting for me.

I suppose it can feel more rewarding to finish chapters more frequently but I don’t usually mind how long the chapters are as long as it feels like it works for that particular book. Sometimes thrillers or suspense novels tend to have shorter chapters and I think that works well with a faster moving storyline, but I don’t mind longer chapters. As long as the book is good and I’m not bored it doesn’t really matter.

Shorter chapters feel easier to read. I remember being a teen and reading James Patterson books so quickly

I do prefer a slightly shorter chapter. I don't mind the long chapters if its interesting and engaging enough. What I really like is a summary at the end of each chapter in non-fiction books.

Too short or too long is a turn off for me!! Too short of chapters seems like the author is trying to build up anticipation to something that just isn’t there. Too long of chapters will dissuade me from starting a new chapter even if I’m super into the book, because I know it’ll take a long time to get through. Unless of course, I’m available to read for that long.

On some level it’s depends on the story, a faster paced book with long chapters can be exhausting but sometimes a books short chapters just don’t make sense! But typically I prefer shorter ones, if anything because I don’t like to stop reading mid chapter when I have to break from reading.
