This book sounds intriguing. The suspense over whether Malino will become indentured or if Grillo will be able to come get him when he turns seven seems like it could be captivating. I don’t know much about historical Italian villages, so this could be worth a read. Thank you for the helpful review.

A story about an orphaned boy who lives a hard life and has numerous life obstacles is a unique plotline. The biggest positive in this book is the indepth character development especially by the main character, Malino. The reader is able to follow along his journey to find out if he is able to survive into adulthood even after all his obstacles. Congrats on the BOTD!

Historical fiction isn't a genre I tend to like, and while the plot involved regarding political difficulty as well as slavery is very intricate. The editing that needs to be done might bring out elements that would cause this to be an interesting story.

Thanks for another great review. I feel so bad for Malino and everything he has had to go through. I agree that the author wrote the characters so that the reader can picture them easily. It is too bad that there were so many errors in the book. I believe at this time though that I'm going to pass on this book. I am glad that you enjoyed it though.

I appreciate the review. I would be interested in finding out what happens to Molino, but I am distracted and repulsed by vulgar language and overtly unusual sexual scenes. I will probably find something else to read.

So in other words: it's real, it's raw and you probably shouldn't read it if real life scares you! It's hard to find anything these days that doesn't follow some woke agenda. Maybe it deserves an extra star, just for that!

This is a great review. Imagine being sold to someone, you become someone's asset. He will use you up to the extent he wants, no one will question him. You will be living in a world where you have no rights. I will try this book. It's amazing.

With themes like slavery and fascism, this book sounds intense. I agree that it is difficult to fathom what we would really do under tough circumstances, and I'd be interested to see what decisions the characters in this book have to make. Thanks for the review!

Through such a fantastical storyline, the author has rightly pointed out the evils growing in several nations of today's world. I would like to know more about the themes in this book.

Malino, born blind with evil eyes, got a chance to live after the woodcutter who was to abandon him changed his mind. Through Malino, the reader experiences a rich plot with vivid details and great character development. The author touches on heavy themes that are thought provoking. With further editing, this book will appeal to more readers. Thank you for your well-written review.

I foresee a lot of people passing on this book because of the sexual content. I will not be one of them. Some of these fall under areas I specialized in during my career. Great review

From the description of the book, i fell in love with the culture being potrayed in the book. The summary gives a good view of what to expect in this book. I would love to learn of the slavery and oppression in that part of the world. I would also love to find out what happens in the end. Congratulations on BOTD.
