Sounds like we've got an interesting family saga here. I've read the book about Joey, so I'll give this one a try.
Congratulations, BOTD.

Natalie is an example of many girls who undergo this type of treatment from their strp fathers. I am surprised that she got to live up to her dream. By reading the review I thought that the family would finally be liberated. I would love to read about the challenges that they face after this. Congratulations on BOTD!

I am horrified that a stepfather could discriminate against her own daughter based on race. I like that it also teaches on the dangers of substance abuse. Great review.

The review beautifully sums up the positive and negative aspects of the book. Natalie's strong character portrayal makes me interested in knowing more about her. Thanks for the review!!

Through Natalie, a brave and spirited young girl, the author tells of the struggles of a family living on the 'drought-ravaged’ ironbark hill. It is a coming of age narrative sharing a journey from adversity to grace. Thank you for the great review.

A book set in Australia spanning the 50s to the 90s sounds intriguing. I am also curious about the character Natalie and how she goes about achieving her dreams. The rest of the family also sound quite interesting so congratulations on BOTD.

I love Natalie’s bravery, that makes her stand out, but I hope her stepfather finds a way to accept her. I'm sure a lot of people will relate to her situation. Nice review. Congratulations on BOTD.

Thank you for your honest review. I am not interested in this book mainly because you say it includes specific details and backtracking for characters who are not primary to the story. I don't like wasting time reading unnecessary bits and pieces. It muddies the waters of the book. You have made the basic plot sound interesting, however. Thank you again.

Thank you for your honest review. I believe I remember some of these characters from another book of the day. I did enjoy reading the sample and sometimes it's nice to read a "non-exciting" book. I always say boredom is totally underrated. This book is based on the time of my younger life. I would like to read this book and see what each of the characters is thinking about for the time frame.

The book's plot seems interesting, as i felt i could relate with the character's struggles, and also with the story set in the 1950s. Though i regret it lack of suspense. Congrats on BOTD

I don't think I will be reading this one. Keeping track of various characters perspectives will be tiring. I also wish the story had more suspense it would make it more exciting.
