Is tolerance for war decreasing with each generation?

I would say our tolerance is not waning but the rationale for war has changed. In the ancient year's that was characterised by brutal war, the reason for war is mostly due to overtaking one another in land and all element of physical wealth. But nowadays, we won't want to start war just to overtake what does not belong to us. However, we go into war against any unfair action or omen. Protesting against unfair policy is an example of what war has transitioned into.

I would say yes because this is a cycle. One generation faces hardships and creates weaker men and the weaker men create hardships which forces the next generation to become stronger. So in terms of us right now I believe we are the weaker generation because our elders have faced the hardships; whether that’s by immigrating or by fighting in the war or just by creating a strong foundation for this children.

I believe there will always be wars as there will always be difference of opinions and seeking of greater power.

Completely eliminating war is impossible but the decreasing tolerance for war is something that can be debated. Personally, I don't think the tolerance is decreasing. If anything, it's getting worse, as more destructive weapons and machinery are built. We can say that people want war less because of the horrendous accounts of past wars, but it can also be argued that perhaps things like that have desensitived people to war in the first place.

For the commoner, the tolerance for war is decreasing. But this may not be the case for a leader whose ego is on the line. So we have more leaders who resort to war when diplomacy is broken.

On the other hem of the question, I don't think we will come to a point in time when war will stop. A nation that has spent billions of dollars building these nuclear and bioweapons has legitimately agreed that war won't cease. While these leaders claim that these weapons are defensive, they don't deny that these weapons could be used for attack. In my opinion, as long as there built weapons, war won't end.

No. Less and less people want to engage in physical battles─guns blazing and gunning each other down. Still there are such wars and the best example is the Russia-Ukraine war. Anyway, a new battle has been created, in this digital era, between the "haves and the have nots." Governments have economic sanctions and individuals have...well, go to social media and you will find out. So, wars will continue. Perhaps less of the traditional wars, but wars nonetheless.

Yes, I think the tolerance for war is decreasing especially in our age now. It's been proven that war leads more to terrible things than solving the solution it is meant to solve.

As much as I hope that every human being grows to become more sensible to avoid wars or extreme conflicts, I can't say categorically that wars will be eliminated. Nowadays, people seem to be going more crazy and there is no telling what the next person might do.

The 21st century generation however, seems to be indifferent about wars. There's more interest in entertainment, pleasure and leisure than there is in wars, tribal feuds and to some extent, politics.

In my opinion, the answer to the first question depends on which part of the world you come from. This is because we have some parts where tolerance for war is decreasing while others is increasing. The answer to the question whether it is possible to eliminate the war some day is Yes. The spread of knowledge globally is making it possible for this generation.
