Re: Doctor Who

It sounds like good fun. From the time I was a kid, I've always like Dr. Who. Back then there were so few channels and it was quite a family affair to sit down to watch.

Wait, are these books based off the series or is the series based off the books?

I'm going to look that up now.

"From 1965 to 1991 the books published were primarily novelised adaptations of broadcast episodes"

Oh, I was secretly hoping that wouldn't have been the answer =/

I'm so excited for the new season of Doctor Who. I just noticed that there were Doctor Who books a few weeks ago, and I put them on my wish list :). I can't wait to have time to read them.

Do you think they will continue with the books after the series has ended?

I am in love with the Doctor who TV series and shocked and elated to discover that there are books too!
my favorite doctor is the 11th, any suggestions on reads?

(I also have heard a rumor that there is a "secret doctor"; if he even exists, does he star in any books?)

I loved the first few Doctors (Tom Baker and Peter Davidson being the best, in my opinion), but I haven't been able to get into any of the new ones (Christopher Eccleston and David Tennent, notably). I think the series was better with that 70's and 80's campiness and lack of good special effects. Or maybe I just don't want the show to move on. I liked it how it was!

I've watched the series, have yet to read the books! I heard that Neil Gaiman's writing one, so I'm pretty excited about it.

what a great way to get even more of this amazing story, I've only ever seen it on tv but I think the books would be more of an adventure, more personal :-)

Have any of you read A Writer's Tale by Russell T Davies? I absolutely loved it. It's basically e-mail conversations between Russell T Davies (Doctor Who producer and writer) and Benjamin Cook (journalist). It obviously took place before Steven Moffat took over the series in season five, but it talks about the show and writing the scripts and everything that went into it. It was really insightful and it gave me a good laugh. I highly recommend it if you're a Whovian.

Plague of the Cybermen has been on my shelf for some time and has been read at least twice... Maybe three times? I would suggest going through the titles and finding one about your favorite nemesis/villain, or maybe your favorite Doctor! PotC is told during Eleven's storyline.
