Congrats on BOTD. From his name, Mr. Osaki seems to be of Japanese descent, where their mindset about women differs from that of Western people. I guess that is reflected in his book as well.

Book of the day BOTD is poetry themed that covers a number of poignant topics in best evidence each poem in four sections gives you a glimpses of a formative moments in the mind of the author ,his life expectations or the point of view on world conflict. Some of the poems like the Chinese camp, California its culture experience and the nuances of navigating identity as an Asian American culture war. The author can capture the powerful moment of long loss .the book was well written and reviewed I will recommend it

Poetry needs to be strong and intense and it seems like this book has these qualities. Not so much fun to hear an intensely negative depiction of women but without reading the poems, it is not possible to have an opinion on that.

Although I am not a big fan of poetry, I do find the word play intriguing.

Such an artistic cover. I don’t really like poetry, but I’m sure many will appreciate this book. Congratulations on book of the day!

I find it very relevant to always pen down something about human experiences especially ugly ones such as those encountered in times of war.
Amazing book review. Great job.

Very insightful and useful review. Prose poetry as a genre was a revelation for me personally - sampling the first few poems I thought it was a form of lame rhyme. But I agree about the use of language, and especially the "pen" example - I liked it too. I would not blame the author for negative representation of women as we are unaware of his life circumstances that may have triggered it - after all, it is his personal feeling and I would respect it.

Poetry is not in my best interest but I appreciate that the author chose such sensitive topics. I enjoyed the first poem too, I think it was a good way to start.

This is a great review. I have never heard a prose poetry, but my love for poetry makes this book sound interesting. I also appreciate the uniqueness of this book.

The sample I read was amazing the way the author makes an illustration. Poetry is not always about rhythms but more of a meaningful illustration.

Great review! I am interested in reading a book of poems especially is they have a Japanese flare to them as I lived in Japan for two years. However the negative aspect in the book towards women makes me leery. I'll put it on my list to read anyway and I'll try it someday.

This seemed like an interesting way to empathize with the Asian-American experience. It must be really hard to integrate such different cultures. But I'm not going to condone sexism either.
Great review!

I haven't read prose poetry before, I am still kind of new to appreciating poetry. Your review was excellently written and it does create intrigue in the book. I would love to read it, and hope going forward the author would also focus a bit more on gender equality as it was lacking in this particular book. What I read from the sample was very captivating and well-written! Well done on #BOTD and for your amazing review.
