I seem to remember reading one of his books when I was a kid. I can't remember his style though. I'll check it out.

 I have been a big fan of Lovecraft since my college years-a long time ago. I have read I believe all of his fiction but not his non-fiction works talking about horror writing. BTW, he is buried in Swan Point cematary in Prov, RI

Lovecraft made a huge impression on me as a kid. In grade school I used to read his stories under the covers with a flashlight and wonder if Cthulhu was coming to get me.

I like some of Lovecraft. The stories that are called 'Dunsanian' (because they're remniscent of Lord Dunsany's writing) are my favorites; I'm not that fond of his grimmest horror.

Lovecraft is amazing. I find him even more chilling now then I did earlier in my life.

If you want to check out a film that seems to be directly inspired by Lovecraft and captures some of the feel of his work, I would recommend "Marebito." There are plenty of films said to adapted from Lovecraft, but I haven't found any that really invoke the spirit of his work like this one. It's Japanese and amazing.

i'm very intrigued, and i know that many contemporary authors had credited lovecraft with much of their inspiration. so i may begin somewhere discovering lovecraft, please tell me, which story / book of his is the one with "cthulhu"? i suppose i could google it, but a personal testimonial might help. thanks!

I do enjoy Lovecraft, though the fact that I don't really care for short stories hampers this. I wish he had written more works that were longer in length, but I do love his stories for those nights where you want to go through story after story until your candle burns out in the wee hours of the morning.
