Things to Keep: Things to Remember, written by Joshua McKenney, is a collection of the author's Instagram posts, and it aims to inspire people to take decisive actions towards actualizing their goals, provide emotional support to those hurting, and practically offer helpful tips about life and living.

The book's presentation is quite appealing. On each page, you have the frame of an Instagram chat with "Thread" text woven through the right-hand end of the frame. That was innovative! Again, each post is concise, making it easier to comprehend the messages. The language was simple, and the author's tone was engaging and soothing.

I benefited from the motivational and educational tips offered in this short read. I was encouraged by the urge to take a step—to stop procrastinating and start taking the steps towards actualizing those targets I have always aimed at. It was also comforting to know that people closing the door on someone doesn't mean that the person is worthless; it just shows they do not yet recognize the greatness personified standing before them.

However, I wasn't comfortable with the author's statement that while God "elevates" me, those around me would be "limited." I found that note controversial, selfish, unhealthy, and of no motivational or educational worth. Also, I suggest another round of editing for this book, as I found some grammatical errors in it.

I rate Things to Keep: Things to Remember four out of five stars for the helpful tips and the book's appealing layout. It lost one star due to the aforementioned concerns. Overall, this was an interesting read. Although some of the tips were not new to me, they still struck some chord with me, energizing me to keep grinding harder towards actualizing my goals.

I recommend this book to Christians in bad situations who need to be reminded that God is still in control, is aware of their predicament, is preparing a better future for them, will provide them with their rightful spouses, and will bless the works of their hands. In addition, readers who won't mind the mentions of God and faith should find some tips in this book helpful.
