The personal touch in sharing her inter-religious marriage, career choices, and cultural adjustments in Canada makes the book not just a historical account but a touching and relatable memoir of resilience, adaptation, and hope.

Immediately I saw the book's title, I was also reminded of the horrific images on the news. I am looking forward to reading this book to know the true picture of Afghanistan from the eye of the author. Congratulations to the author on winning book of the day.

The book provides a glimpse into growing up in Afghanistan well before the conflict. I am intrigued by the portrayal of Afghanistan at that time. Based on the review, the book sounds captivating.

The mention of Afghanistan as an exciting adventure and a tourist attraction in the 1960s adds a layer of historical context. It raises questions about how the socio-political landscape changed over time and underscores the transformative nature of conflict on a nation's identity.

Thanks for the review. Sounds fascinating. The events in Afghanistan were tragic for many people and families. I am glad the author was able to escape, but stories such as these make me wonder about those who weren't able to escape.

It's unimaginable going from living happily in your home to having to escape and being an immigrant. This a book that demonstrates strength and courage and would surely be a worthy read.

Nazila's story from her early childhood in Afghanistan will inspire others as a survivor. I am really intrigued and curious to know the significant events that occurred in Kabul, forcing them to escape to India. Nice review.

Today's book chronicles the author and her family's life and escape from Afghanistan to Canada. It is a survivor's tale and the author, Nazila Sawhney, tells it with heart and honesty.

an Afghan, I totally understand the significance of this story. I think that what has happened over the past years, every one of us has nearly the same start for a new journey. I really appreciate that you read this book to have a complete view from an insider. I always hear tales and stories of the past and it's amazing. The 2021 conflicts again hit big but since I lived a year and a half in the new government, I think they are trying to rebuild the nation and bring back Islamic values. I would love to read about the inspiring life of the author. Thanks, Seetha for this beautiful review!

I find survivor's story is somewhat inspirational given their fighting spirit in adapting to new cultures and how they work hard to make ends meet in a foreign country where they dwell in. I have zero knowledge about what had happenend in Afghanistan back in 1980s; only the things I saw from television and news I read. This book provides insider's perspective and Im so excited to read this.
